Final Project

Here is my final project map. I decided to make a map of Catalina Island in California and highlight diving, recreation, and other areas of importance for a first time visitor.

Lab 9 NOW WITH COLOR!

There were a few differences between the online version compared with the printed version. The colors on paper tended to be a little darker then the digital version. It is especially visible for the states of Texas, Oklahoma, etc. I prefer the digital version compared to the printed version a little more. The colors tended to stand apart better and were easier on the eye. Overall I would have to go with the digital version.

Lab 7 Choropleth Maps

I prefer the Equal Interval map because to me it conveys its message better visually. This of course may be biased and the assumption that more poor live in the south can be misinterpreted. Oveall I had a goot time making this map.

Interesting Typeographical Map

This map shows what the center of the earth might be like. Obviously not true but the typography certainly portrays the science fiction quality about it. Advanced races in the center of the earth and UFOs? Sweet, I'm there.

My Links

Each link I chose was for various reasons. GeoEye is a satellite imagery company that I received my scholarship through and the detailed image data they provide is excellent. GIS.com is ESRI's site into all there is about Geographical Information Systems. I chose it becasue it is my minor and anyone looking for more info on GIS can look there. The last one I chose was the United States Geological Survey becasue the information and links provided there are vast and of excellent quality. I would also like to work for them someday.
